Metal by era and traces of manufacture
Luang Pu Toh Inthasuwanno of Wat Pradu Chimphli (BE 2430–2524, 1887–1981) began making sacred powder amulets in BE 2468 (1925) and later Phra Kring and coins, for example the large round coin of BE 2512 (1969): 2,512 pieces, no loop, with a Sukittima yantra on the back.
He learned the Trinisinghe yantra from Luang Phor Rung of Wat Tha Kraboe, so it appears on many of his coins. The coins are stamped; look at the yantra details, the sharpness of the lines and the metal surface.
His sacred objects span many periods of his long life; study each batch and material separately.
In general, metals form natural surface layers in different ways: copper, brass and bronze tend to develop a dark-brown oxide and sometimes green deposits; silver tarnishes brown to black; lead and lead–tin (chin) show white-grey deposits. Students look at whether these layers are continuous and natural between deep recesses and high points. Macro photos can only show whether what is visible is consistent with metal of the period; they cannot state a year of making.
